Honey Doll now with touch sensors

The Japanese certainly take their robots seriously, and this time the Honey Doll offers an even more lifelike companion experience by featuring touch sensors that actually make her moan with different sounds, thanks to an integrated MP3 player that is hooked up to a speaker located in the head of the doll. Just in case you get bored of listening to the same old sounds, there is always the option to upload your own versions.

Ceramicradio

Project: Bibelots: Memories in White +: The human drive to create is unlimited, and as modern products flood our homes and lives, objects that once occupied space find themselves replaced. They leave not only a spatial void but a generational one: a gap between the things that belonged to our generation and those that belong to newer ones. We propose a series of objects that take the form of products that once were central in our daily lives, in order to trap our memories, sensations and emotions relating to those objects. The series would be made of ceramic, a traditional, primitive and pristine material. Stripping each object of its functionality and concentrating only on its form – the space that it occupies – gives it a new existence. The objects would continue to exist in our homes, but as ghosts trapped in ceramic, retaining our memories of them but limiting interaction to visually reminding us of what they were and what they meant in our lives. Though boom boxes, VHS machines and rotary phones are all but obsolete, they can find new life and a new use, continuing to communicate to us every day. Vis-age N. the face or appearance of a person.

At Turn Your Head, we fill the space between two opposing profiles of your face. By spinning that space into a three dimensional “visage” that follows the outlined silhouettes of your two profiles, we create the pirolette.

LuciPlace the “Pirolette” to your face and it will match your profile. Locate it near a wall and the shadow of the “Pirolette” will be your silhouette.

Your profile captured forever in an object of art. An optical illusion of shadow and light, each one nique because it’s you!

This beautiful light’s petals open and close upon its intensity of illumination. The thin petals, made of a shape-memory alloy, bend from the heat of the bulb. Such poetic use of materials. Also from Nendo was this set of nesting tables that shift patterns using polarizing filters.

How to make magnetic water

Dan Serena has a cool video on his site showing water reacting to a powerful magnet. He attained the magnetic water by taking a cup of water, mixing in lime juice and spinach leaves, and letting it sit in a fridge over night. The Vitamin C from the lime juice extracts the iron from the spinach leaf so that the water is laced with enough to make it magnetic.
